Dosage standards and construction precautions for ceramic tile adhesive
Tile adhesive is the most commonly used bonding material in the construction and decoration process, which can be used to paste ceramic tiles, polished tiles and natural stones such as granite. Its high adhesive strength, water resistance, freeze-thaw resistance, good aging resistance, and convenient construction make it a very popular decoration material.
Advantages of Ceramic Tile Adhesive
1. The construction of ceramic tile adhesive is carried out on the substrate using specialized tools for large-scale scraping, which is 2-3 times faster than traditional techniques. Moreover, ceramic tiles do not need to be soaked in water. Traditional cement mortar is applied on the back of ceramic tiles, one by one, and the construction speed is slow. Moreover, ceramic tiles need to be soaked in water.
2. The ceramic tile adhesive does not shrink, so it does not cause hollowing. The ceramic tile is firmly bonded, and the cement mortar will shrink after drying due to the characteristics of cement, resulting in hollowing and easy detachment of the ceramic tile.

Ceramic tile adhesive dosage
Generally, this standard is followed:
(1) 3mm toothed scraper, approximately 1.5 kg/square meter
(2) 6mm toothed scraper approximately 3.7 kg/square meter
(3) 10mm toothed scraper, approximately 6.5 kg/square meter
Suitable scraper can be selected based on the area of the brick material and the groove situation on the back of the brick.
The amount of tooth shaped scraper with a width of 6mm and a depth of 6mm is about 3.5kg/m2, the amount of tooth shaped scraper with a width of 10mm and a depth of 10mm is about 5kg/m2, and the amount of tooth shaped scraper with a width of 12mm and a depth of 12mm is about 7kg/m2. Based on the common 20kg packaging, it can be pasted with 3 to 7 square meters, so the specific area needs to be determined before determining the dosage.
Precautions and construction methods
1. The base surface should be kept flat, with specific requirements:
a. The curing period of the leveling layer or concrete base must meet the requirements, with a mortar leveling layer of no less than 14 days and a concrete structure of no less than 28 days
b. The surface of ceramic tiles and the substrate to be pasted should be complete, sturdy, clean, and free from oil stains, floating dust, and cracks
c. If the base is a sturdy, firm, and complete cement-based composite waterproof coating, it can be directly laid
d. If the base is a solid old ceramic tile surface, artificial stone, paint, etc., it is necessary to use a resilient and flexible high-strength ceramic tile adhesive for paving
e. Indoor plasterboard, chipboard, particle board, aerated concrete, precast cement board or gypsum batch surface shall be painted with non film interface treatment agent in advance, and then pasted after 2-4 hours of drying.
2. Stir the ceramic tile adhesive into a paste in clean water, with a ratio of about 4:1. Please refer to the instructions on the outer packaging of the production sheet for details. After stirring thoroughly, wait for about 10 minutes for it to ripen before slightly stirring. After about 2 hours of use, do not reuse the dried adhesive with water.
3. Apply the adhesive to the wall surface with a toothed scraper, evenly distribute it for about one square meter, and knead and press the ceramic tile onto it within 15 minutes. Adjustments can be made before the tile adhesive is fixed.
4. Pay attention to retaining expansion joint. The product is suitable for use in the environment of 5 ℃~40 ℃. It can be stepped or caulked 24 hours after completion.
